96 civic ex overheating?

My 96 EX has had some problems as of late staying cool. So I found a leak in upper hose replaced the hose then found another leak in the lower replace it. Then it still overheated I noticed that the fan was not running so replaced the fan motor the car stays cool now but the fan is still not running at all I then replaced the relay for the fan but the fan still does not run. I am wondering if maybe the fan switch is bad or what it could be can someone please give me a suggestion to what the problem may be

Unplug the fan switch (on the thermostat housing), stick a paperclip in the harness to "jump" the connector. PUt the key in the ignition and turn it or start the car. If the fan comes on, the switch should be replaced. If not, there there problem is elsewhere I would imagine.

i pulled out the fan switch and tried to jump it and the check engine light came on now is the a major problem? any recommendations on what to do next?

The fan switch doesn't have any connection to the CEL. Likely you unplugged the wrong thing. Follow the lower radiator hose back to the engine, the switch is there.

i must have because i went on the upper to thermo housing or what i thought is the thermo housing and the check engine light is still on do think that is gonna be a big issue?i have not got the code for it yet

I'd plug everything back in, disconnect the battery for a while to clear the ECU, then reconnect and start up and see if the light comes on.
