i had a check engine light blinking for 30 secs. after car was stared so my freind told me to hold in the odemeter needle ,turn the key to acc, count to 10 , turn key off, then start car and it should have stopped. it did. now my a.c. don't work, my brake light is on , my door locks don't work , intermedite windshield wipers don't work, and the dome light doesn't come on when the door is opened.
could i have shorted something out in the computer by doing what i did and if i took it to the dealer could they fix the problem ? the car is a 2001 civic wich i love. thank you for your help in advance.

That procedure resets the "maintenance required" light which is different from the check engine light. Now you have the classic symptoms of a bad Multiplex Control Unit, which is part of the fuse panel under the dash. Holding the button in will not damage it-- a lot of them have gone bad for no particular reason. First of course check for blown fuses.

thank you mk378
thank you for ansewring my post . i'm really happy to hear that i didn't cause the problem . now i'm wondering how hard or easy it would be to get a multiplexcontrol unit and get it in .
is this device a part of the fuse panel or take out of panel and replace it?
because there are no blown fuses anywhere in or under the hood either.so if you could tell me a little on what i'm looking at ....please let me know .
... thanks again in advance tim
