Default 97 EX CD player question

So i recently bought a used civic. Everything is in really good condition. I was srsly lucky to find this car. However, the CD player (stock CD player) doesnt work. The stereo works great and sounds great. But the CD player wont even take a CD. Pressing the "CD" button on the panel does nothing and hitting eject does nothing. There might be something stuck in it, im not sure. Any idea of why the CD player isnt working? Is is something crazy technical or something small that would be worth seeking repairs for. If anyone has an idea of what it is or any steps i should take to further diagnose the issue. please respond.

I believe the CD player is powered through a wire connected to the radio. Remove the CD player to check whether this wire has been disconnected.

If the CD player is located where the cassette player would be, then the diagrams should help:
