98 Civic lights and engine pulsing when engin running
My son's 98 Civic was stored over the winter and when we put in back on the road all internal and external lights pulse or flicker rapidly and there is a very noticeable surging/pulsing of the engine power (again very rapid cycle of power/hesitation/power/ hesi..and so on).
We check the battery when car is off and the voltage is constant between 12-13 volts. And at the alternator when running the voltage is a constant 14.5 volts.
However when the engine is running and the voltmeter is on the battery the voltage reading is constantly changing for example within a 5 second interval the readings are 14.5v, 10v, 6v, 0, 8v, 14.5v and so on.
Ideas ?
