hey i bought a civic with 180k miles on it for $400, right now the problem i am having with it is it will start up but will run crappy it will almost stall out and then the rpms will bounce up and it will continue to do that over and over and when im driving it will lag when i give it gas and then it will surge

after awhile of running the car will drive fine no real problems that is until i turn the car off and try to turn it back on it will start over.

just this last time driving the car it was running fine and then i shut the car off and it didn't start up it started but immediately sputtered out and every time i try to restart the car it won't start. if i give it time it will start but do the same thing, some times i can get it to start and and drive it like i said the in first paragraph

fuel filters are changed already, im trying to put as little into this car as possible

Usually a situation like this will trigger the check engine light, meaning you can check the trouble code in the ECU. Used cars often have the bulb removed though. Does the light come on for the bulb test when you turn the key on but don't start?

 

yeah it lights up on the dash with the rest of the lights but it doesnt throw and check engine light

checked the main relay and fuel pump both are good
