Default 98 dx transmission failure

I was driving for about 20 min when I came to a stop sign, slowed down, and attempted to proceed thru the intersection and it would not catch. after letting it sit for about another 20 min it drove fine for 5 min and starting slipping again just befor I parked it. Is there anyone that can tell me where to start with this? And yes I checked the fluid level and it's not burnt either.

I take it you have an auto tranny? If so, how often did you change or have changed the fluid? It should've been changed every 2 years or 30,000 miles, whichever occured first.

Honda trannies are very susceptable to failure if this maintenance procedure is not followed. If you intend to keep the car for a while, find out what a factory refurbished tranny costs. I'm not a big fan of independant transmission places and their rebuilding skills.

Thanks! And I just replaced this tranny a year ago, with a rebuilt one. Now going to have honda do it.

Some, if not all dealerships carry factory refurbished transmissions. They have all the latest updates and are assembled at the factory. I've heard so many bad stories about local transmission shop work that I would stay away. That also applies to engines - better to get a crate engine than have your own rebuilt at a local place.
