98 lx cutting out at 2000 rpm?

My car runs great, but if I don't get through the lowest rpm band while shifting quickly, my car sputters as if only running on a couple of cylinders. It happens right at 2000 rpm. It's not often that I'm that low while going through the gears, but sometimes in a curve or pulling out into traffic I can be.

I've got a new distributor cap, rotor, and plugs already on the car, but I haven't replaced the wires yet (still waiting on them to arrive). Could wires be doing this? What else could it be? Could it be a fuel delivery problem?

Very often it is the wires. Misfiring at low rpm with heavy throttle is most likely due to weak sparks.

Thanks

I'm looking forward to the day where I get those wires in, should be tomorrow! I hope this is the problem. If not, where do I go next?

Thanks.
