99 Civic brake drum 'puller' bolts size and pitch??

I am attempting to replace my rear drum brake cylinders on my 99 EX and have hit a snag. I can't seem to figure out the size of the two bolts used in the brake drum threaded holes to pop the drum off. They appeared to be M8 shaft size, but after trying every thread pitch Ace Hardware had to offer nothing fit. Next I called the local honda dealer and asked their service dept (probably should have done this first), and they said it was a M6 x 1.0. Back to Ace-- way to small. Then I just started trying every random bolt and screw I had sitting in the garage and still couldn't find anything close. M8 seems to be the proper shaft size, but the bolt will only go in about a quarter turn, and seems to be an improper pitch angle (you know the 'feeling').

Any ideas?? I've had everything I need to get the job done for days buy can't start because of two little metric bolts.

Should be M8 x 1.25. You can use the bolts that hold the IACV onto the engine if you are in a pinch. Just be careful not to strip them out or you won't be able to drive the vehicle ;)

Great! Thank you for the quick response.

Random, however, make sure the parking brake ("e brake") is not engaged. You'll have a hell of a time removing it if that is pulled up.

Of course :) Done and done. Just popped the drums off yesterday, everything worked out. Thanks again
