Default 99 Honda Civic EX Major Problems

Hi,

I have a 99 Honda Civic EX with 55k miles on it. Last week my wife went to start it and nothing happened. It will be shorter to tell you what does work. The horn, hazards, and brake lights work. Nothin else in the car works. Can't even get it out of park without using the manual release. Turn the key and nothing happens at all. No lights come on. No gauges work. The engine does not turn over. I tried replacing the battery just hoping it would work but that did nothing. HELP PLEASE!

Maybe you should check the ignition (the thing you put the key in). If the ignition isn't working, nothing else will turn on. The horn and hazards work without the key, i'm not sure about the brake lights.

The door locks should work without the key. The power mirrors should work without the key. But they don't work right now. I will check the iginition but I don't think that is the problem since there are some things that don't need the key in the ingnition to work but they still don't work. Another one is the dome light. It doesn't work.

I haven't been around Hondas very long, but most cars use fuseable links in the wiring harness to protect the high-current wiring. Sounds like you might have blown one. A good elec schematic should show them if they're used on your car.
