Head Gasket Talk
As many of you know, I recently swapped my head to a y8. After the swap i've been blowing smoke. I'm pretty sure the oil is simply being pushed past the piston rings.
But I got to talking to the guys at work, and they think the fault lies in the fact that I didn't put any adhesive or whatever on the block/head for the head gasket to adhear to.
I have found that this is a very controversial subject. Some think I should have used it, others say I did it right. Who's right?

I know you did a y8 head mini me, but when I replaced my head gasket (have done it three times now), I never used any adhesive. the headgaskets were replaced due to the head coming off for various reasons. Never had a blown HG or any issues.

See-thats what I thought.
I'm pretty sure the added compression from the new head is causing the oil to blow past the rings. I mean, the fact that the original block only has like 350K miles on it means nothing at all. lol
