Air conditioning

What kind of refrigerant does my 1992 Honda Civic dx take? I can't find it in my manual. Thanks

The stock 92 Civic uses R12.

Look for conversion fittings on the ports, likely it has been converted. The '92 and '93 should convert well (if done properly) since it's the same hardware that the factory R-134a '94 and '95s have.

Well since I am only the second owner, and I have had her 10 years, it probably isn't converted. Drat! Thats probably expensive to convert?

Is there any R-12 left? The easiest way to tell is that if the compressor engages when you press the button, there is some left.

It comes on the air is just barely cool.

Call around to shops, you might be able to find someone to check it for leaks and top up with R-12. R-12 is still available and legal to use in old cars. That will be less expensive than converting and if the system is tight (other than the almost unavoidable really slow leak that took many years to become apparent) you should get several years more use.
