anyone else have leaking rear trunk seal?

well as it says... normal rain and such have no effect BUT the high pressure car washs seems to soak my trunk!

im not sure if i should try and buy a new trunk seal OR just pull it and silicone it all the way around so i know its sealed right!

or just do both....... tho im not sure if i can get a new seal or how much one would cost.....

kinda gets on my nerves AND its geting on my sub box which is realy bad for MDF!!!!!!!
i dont wanna build my new box until i get this issue fixed...

i have never seen a trunk seal leak,, unless car has been in accident and trunk is misaligned..

you might want to chk the tail lite lense gaskets, i have seen a few of those leak.

RE: anyone else have leaking rear trunk seal?

na i know one spot where its definatly leaking! its right in the middle top seal... its basicaly going right under the seal and into the trunk :( i feel it wet under thier.
now i thought it was my SIRIUS antena wire BUT thats on my far passenger side and that spot is dry around the cable....
plus now that i remember when i bought the car i know the trunk was REALY DIRTY... not sure if thats from the seal leaking or something else spilled in the trunk..

but like always that thin cardboard trunk panel is warped like a MOFO!!!!!!!!! which does look like more of a problem from the seal leaking for along time!

the car has been in a front wreck and side wrecks from the carfax report BUT thier is no visable damage in the rear! trust me i looked over this car VERY HARD before i bought it! which i saw a few SMALL spots that i know its had repair work BUT all the metal looks straight... its the stock trunk lid and all the inside panels in the trunk look straight behind the carpeting.

im thinking some simple silicone all the way around the seal ontop and sides SHOULD keep it from going under the seal at high pressure... BUT since the rubber is 7years old it might not be a bad idea to just replace it and then seal it in.....

RE: anyone else have leaking rear trunk seal?

my car trunk had a leak to, and it made no sence where it was coming it,i thought it was a seal to..well, i put the hose on my car and went on the inside with a flashlights and found the leak..it was a hair size crack in the metal underneath the seal!!!!!, so i ripped off the seal in that spot..got a dremal and sanded all the paint off to metal, and applyed a 2 part mixture (which was like $10 at any hardward store) which hardness into like a plastic and coverd that area...i did that in the spring and havent had a problem since *knock on wood* , its like a plastic weld
