ARP headstuds

Hey,

I am currently getting everything together for my turbo build, I will only be running 8-10 PSI (Really small turbo) on stock internals. Now I wanted to get ARP headstuds but after a little research I heard you can blow a headgasket using the 1 by 1 trick. I heard of people doing it and being fine and other blowing the head gasket, Do you guys think I should get the studs or will I be allright. I know I could get headlift and have to replace it anyway, Not really sure what route to go.

RE: ARP headstuds

honda head bolts are "recomended" to be torqued only once. cost for the set of 10 is about $140. a set of ARP head studs goes anywhere from $90-$140. anytime you build a motor and already have it apart, i would highly recomend going to studs, as they can be torqued more than once and are much stronger than the factory bolts. if however your motor is still intact, and by intact i mean not spread across your garage floor like most of ours are, then you could stick with the stockers. however you should know, even at 7psi, head gaskets are pretty commonly blown because of the pressure slowly lifting the head over time, stretching the bolts just enough to let compression past the cylinder ring.
