Default b16 spudders?

I was driving my car around today and it was warmed up and ready to go. I took it up to about 7500 rpm in 2nd gear and it just spuddered and kinda gave up like it hit a rev limiter. I have taken it to 8200 before so I know my ecu should be fine. Any idea what that could be? fuel pump? fuel filter? ignition problem?

sounds like it could be something like detonation and/or pre-ignition. Hope this isnt the case though... goodluck

if it infact is your fuel filter, you can pick on up for about $12 bucks anywhere. A clogged fuel filter not only can waste gas, it makes your fuel pump over work itself and wear out a lot faster than it should.

I think that you guys are probably on the right track...when the motor is up that high it is requiring large amounts of fuel and pressure, if it can't get it then you will start to run lean and the ECU should attempt to correct...unless you are at WOT in which case it will probably sputter as you put it or maybe screw up something worse it depends. Running lean is never good. I would try the easy things first before trying to tackle more difficult problems like valve springs or something. Good Luck!
