A/C Problems
Hey,
So i have a 1998 Honda Civic. I just replaced the A/C compressor and dryer. However the air isnt exactly cold. The compressor was charged, it cools a bit, but not like it used to. What could the problem be? I was thinking the expansion valve but is there anyway to tell if its bad?
Thanks,
Rey

Did you have it evacuated before it was charged? Did you have it charged at a shop? If you charged it yourself, did you use a gauge manifold that reads both the high and low pressure sides of the system? And, if you did it yourself, are you sure you did it properly? (the kits at the store are junk)

I took it to a shop. they did evacuate it. they had called me and told me that my car was ready, i went to pick it up and on the way home it never got cold. So i took it back and they notice that there wasnt any freeon so they figured it was a leak, they supposedly fixed it but it still isnt cold.

well if the lines are opened you should replace the Orings! if you or the shop just tightened up the lines and kept the stock O rings they can easily leak from being old and dry... if it looses pressure again then i say you need to replace EVERY O ring even ones that where not opened up. thats where the system typically leaks from!
