Default bad tps ?'s

so im thinkin that my surging idle problem is a bad tps cause it only surges after reaching operating temp and its not just an idle surge it will surge at other times when ur accelerating or just cruising but the computer has no cel so does that mean it cant be the tps? but if it is the tps then do i really have to buy a whole new throttle body cause someone told me u cant just replace the tps u need the whole throttle body with a good tps already on it?

I believe the TPS is riveted onto the throttle body so it might be hard to replace just the TPS. If you want to make sure the TPS is the problem, get a scan tool that can read live sensor data. Hook up the scan tool and look at the TPS data while the engine is surging. If you see something that is not correct (like the voltage is jumping around) then you will know for sure that the TPS has a problem.

yeah the tps is riveted to the tb, but the rivet is a couple of screws basically with no head, what you can do is get a rotary tool, put a cutting disc to it and cut a slit on the head of the rivet, forming a flat head slit that a flat head screwdriver can fit in, then you can screw it out

FYI....a good place to get a good one is inlinefour.com. just bought a brand new one. if you go to the honda dealer, thay make you buy the throttle body too. and the screws are just a normal metric thread so you can pic them up at most hardware stores, or a bolt supply store.

thanks for the replies guys but my tps fixed itself somehow but that was definatly the problem cause when u disconnect teh tps the computer will use a default for that sensor so i did that and the idle was fine just really high but then right when i plugged it back in it was surging again but today it just somehow stopped'

Well, you can expect the problem to come back soon, so be prepared for it. Have you tried checking the TPS to be sure its calibrated correctly?
