Battery cut-off switch, help w/ alternator power lead

89 honda civic DX

I wired up a battery cutoff switch. Right now, 0 gauge from battery to cutoff switch.

Other side of the switch goes to starter, fuse box.

Alternator + is hooked up at fuse box.

Cutoff switch removed, car still runs...

From what I've read, alternator doesn't need to be hooked to the fuse box anymore, and I should hook it to the positive battery lead with a fuse. Will this cause issues? Overcharging the battery or worse?

Always turn the key off before opening a battery cutoff switch. The whole point of such a switch is that nothing can come out of the battery with the switch off. So everything on the car should be on one side and only the battery on the other side.

I understand it would leave me with a hot lead in the bay.

Would this be acceptable?

the || being a post of the cut-off switch.
