Battery Light comes on when slowing down

Hey...I just bought a 2001 Honda Civic EX coupe and today when i was driving i noticed that the battery light came on when i was slowing down, but when i got off the brake and hit the gas it went away. Could somebody please tell me what this means? I kno if it stays on it is bad, but i am not sure about it flashing.
Thanks

Sounds like the battery might be shot. When you step on the gas, your electrical system is probably running off the charger. When you slow down, the charger slows and there's not enough power from the battery to supply the electrical system, so your battery light comes on.

Take the battery to auto parts store for a test. May be a load test the batttery for free. If the test indicate the battery is faulty, replace it. If the battery is ok, test the alternator on the bench at the place where do it for free. If it fails, replace it. If it is ok, the voltage regulator may be faulty.

By the way, does a Honda comes with a voltage regulator?

Oh,

Check the belt tension at first.

Isn't the battery conductance test (midtronics) better?
