Default dash light (97 ex)

i was driving last night and both the dash lights and automatic shifter lights went out at the same time... i checked a lot of fuses and didn't find one broken... if it is a fuse what would it be labeled and if not what could it be.

Check for a blown fuse #30 (7.5A) under the dash.

You obviously have an electrical short. I think the dash lights brightness controller is a prime suspect.

Possibly. Depends on how you wire the stereo in. The stock radio light is tied into this circuit

who installed your stereo? I would start there. If the stereo is not properly grounded, it will blow other fuses.
