is it true that 06 and up have timeing chains not belts? if so do they (chians) need mantanace at some point.

I think the chains need greasing everyonce in awhile. However, the intervals of maintenance on the chain is MUCH less than a belt IMO. I wish there was some sort of timing chain conversion kit for Honda motors that originally came with a belt. That would be SICK.

Usually the chains don't need any additional lubrication, and it's basically maintenance-free for the most part. However, over hundreds of thousands of miles they will eventually stretch (we're talking a few millimeters, here), and you have to keep an ear out for bad tensioners at that age, too. I'm not sure what the interval should be, but I would imagine that once you have something like 250k miles on it, maybe think about changing the chain set. I'll bet modern engines would compensate for the timing being off a little bit due to the stretched chain.
