blower motor keeps going!
 

After turning off my EF hatch today, i noticed the blower keep on going! I havent had this happen before.. I just turned it to off, and seems to be alright for now. If i could have a little help troubleshooting that would be great. I'm not that good with troubleshooting electrical.

any ideas?

Please clearly describe the problem. Are you saying that when the ignition key is OFF, the blower fan will run when the blower fan switch is turned ON?

if the blower stays ON with the key removed id say its a sticking relay on the blower.... track down the relay for the blower either under the dash or under the hood and just swap in a new relay.

Hey thanks for the input.. I ended up spending a bunch of time testing today, and managed to figure it out i think. Or at least ill find out tomorrow morning if my car starts or not:P. Basically the last owner had a jumper wire going from the underhood fuse box, to the 30 amp blower fuse in the cabin. I did some testing why he would've had a jumper, and it looks like one of the fuses under the hood is 'leaking' or shorting a bit, so he jumped it to a fuse that goes hot with ignition. I dont know why it started acting up all of a sudden though, its peculiar to me for sure. So i jumped it to the radio/cigarette lighter 15a fuse which goes hot with the key. Hopefully this works.

Edit: You should replace the damaged underhood fuse box and restore the wiring to stock. Should be cheap and easy to find in a junkyard because they rarely go bad.

The blower uses more than 15A on high.

The blower motor is probably too much of an electrical load for the cigarette lighter circuit. The blower motor is protected by a 40A fuse, whereas the cigarette lighter is protected by a 15A fuse.

I'm not sure if i follow what you are saying ron. I'm sure it's my lack of knowledge when it comes to anything electrical.. But just to clarify the jumper isnt going from the blower fust in the cabin, to the cigarette fuse in the cabin. The jumper was coming from the damaged circuit in the engine bay, to the cabin, (ie supplying power to the damaged circuit underhood). The reason why i am so confused is that the blower fuse worked at supplying that power for so long, and all of a sudden yesterday the blower fan decided to stay on with the ignition off..
I should add that once i took that jumper off the blower fuse and put it to the cigarette circuit, it doesnt blow with the ignition off anymore. So technically, problem solved. but i'm still confused.

well if the wiring is having problems you can always use a relay, inline fuse and other wires to conect the relays power to the battery thru the inline fuse you also add right next to the batterys power wire, then run the power to the relay, and ground the relay to anything metal, and run a wire from the ignition to the relays TURN ON terminal and then the output terminal to the blower power source.... at least this way it would be turned off automaticaly.
and would save alot of time from replacing the wireing harness...
