Default Brake light problem

Hey guys, i just got the car recently so i'm still working out all the bugs. Last night when driving i noticed that the road behind me was red (like when you hit your brakes) but i wasn't on the brakes. When i got home i saw that when the brake is pushed down, the lights barely get any brighter. Is this a bulb problem....or a brake problem...or wiring or what?? What do you guys think? It's a 92 Si.

i dont think its the bulb, i think its somthing to do with the wireing..i would get a voltmeter and splice the brake wire to see what the volts are flowing through it when your not on the brake and then when your on, then you can see if power is being supplied to the lights constintly

I had an 89 and a part broke right under the brake pedal and it caused the brake lights to stay on all the time even when the pedal was not pushed. Can't remember what it was called but it was just a little plastic part and it cost under $5.00.

had the same thing happen to me...i replaced it with a 1/4" bolt and nut, served the same function, except now, you don't have to worry about it breaking again...

mill, not tryin to start anything, just tryin to inform people........

The volts don't flow, it's the current (in amps) that flows.

^ I was just going to point that out. Being an electrical engineer that sounds like nails on a chalk board.
