Brake lights staying on in 1990 hatchback

Hello everybody , this is my first time posting, i have a 1990si hatchback , this morning i went to start the vehicle and the battery was completely dead after not driving it for a few days, i had to go to work so my wife called AAA because we have a new battery that is still under warranty and i took our other vehicle. They replaced the battery , car fired right up and runs fine. My wife just text me to say that she's out running errands and the brake lights are on and she cat get them to turn off. I haven't seen the car yet and had a chance to see whats going on because I'm stuck at work and its driving me nuts haha so i joined the forum and wanted to just put this out their to see if their are any common issues or things i should look for when i get home from work tonight, the only detail; i have from her are that the brake lights are staying on when the headlights are off and the keys are not in the ignition....thanks for any advice upfront and i will update the thread as soon as i get home and get to see the car.

Check the brake switch. There a small rubber bushing on the pedal. See if that still there.
