Brake lights won't turn off...
The brake lights to my '95 Civic won't turn off. I found a broken plastic grommet/washer on my floor board underneath the pedals. I suspect this is the problem. Doe's anyone know what this part is called, is it easy to replace?

Yes...there is a replacement part for it..and it'll cost a pretty penny.........no really..it will only cost you a penny.
Glue/tape a penny to where that "crayon tip" fell from. If you dont know where to fell from just look for a white or black button that is attached to the brake pedal..this button keeps the brake lights off. Now it might be expensive but if you can spare it you can use 2 pennies if you like :-) This is a fix that will last for years btw. |
You can get the real part for a small cost from a dealer. I think it's called the switch pad-- but they'll know what you are talking about because they fail somewhat often. The part just pushes into the hole in the brake pedal arm and snaps in place.

Thanks guys, I went the cheaper route and used a penny.

I used a piece of rubber from some siding

This worked perfectly! Thank you for sharing!
