Burning Smell Under Hood
Hi all, newbie here.
I recently purchased a '98 LX with 70K miles on it. My main question is: What are some of the most common reasons / repairs for a burning smell coming from the engine? What sort of steps do I need to take to diagnose the problem? And also, if I am not positive that the car underwent a 60K service, what should my next step be? I am pretty confident that given proper instructons I can install new plugs and wires, I figure I'll put an aftermarket air filter in there, etc... What else? Thank you much for any replies! |
RE: Burning Smell Under Hood
The burning smell might be something cooking in or on the engine. Try looking around in the bay for melting/ed plastic. Check all of the lume in the engine and make sure its not touching anything hot. Remember, where theres lume, there is wire in it so make sure you keep it away from moving or hot parts.
