Cam shaft 180 degrees off

Cam shaft 180 degrees off
I had a local mechanic replace the head gasket on my 1990 civic. The engine is a replacement D15B2 supposedly from Japan. The mechanic said that the directions for installing the camshaft were 180 degrees from the way it was when he took it out. He followed the directions. The timing mark is now at the bottom position when timing from cylinder No. 1. The car starts fine and runs OK but is lower on power than before this work. My question is: Does it matter on this engine whether the cam is 180 degrees off?

RE: Cam shaft 180 degrees off
The timing marks are pointing down. Since the firing order is 1 4 3 2, can you time from cylinder number 2 if the crank and cam are 180 degrees out? I don't think this car has a cam position sensor, so what difference does it make if the cam is 180 degrees out? I assume the car fires on the compression and exhaust strokes since it has a regular distributor.
