Can't Open Glove box
'98 Civic 4-Dr DX
Glove box opened & closed just fine today, and then, minutes later (and ever since), it won't open.
(This model's glove box has no lock).
The handle moves, but it does not disengage the lock ***'y from the latch hook. Instead, the handle pulls out farther than normal---with a "pop" sound.
I could not remove both screws below the glove box because one of the screws is already stripped [why would a car which I got new from a dealer come with a stripped glove box screw?]
How do I open this glovebox without breaking things?
Does anyone know how I might get the lock assembly to separate from the latch hook? Or can I just remove the lock assembly from the front handle area?

hmmm. see if there is something under the handle you can pull/push or otherwise move to engage the latch. and if that dont work you need a new box.

you just said it has no lock. lock or no lock?

Q: Lock or no lock?
A: While this model has no key or keyhole and cannot be 'locked' closed by a key, the latch release part is offically called a "Lock Assy".
So I refer to the part which is to release the latch hooking when the handle is pulled, though the thing does not lock by key.
