car hesitating. 94 honda civic vx
so im having this issue that seems like it doesnt want to go away. my car out of the random begins to hesitate and to lose power. doesnt want to go pass 2500rpm and then the rpms begin to decrease. i step on the gas hard and seems like the car gets through it but once i slightly let go it begins again. after doing this for a while the car begins to back fire. ive done so much to it and i would like to know if anyone of you have encountered this issue and could lend me a hand here. i have in mind to change the tps sensor n map sensor.
things ive done: -main relay -spark plugs and wires -rotor and ignition coil -O2 sensor -fuel filter -fuel pump -timing belt -ecu |
How many miles are on your catalytic converter?
|
I don't quite know but I had my mechanic check to see if there was any clogging there n nothing.
|
Have you checked the injectors?
|
I would check timing again and make 100% sure that its not off time. It could be one tooth off to where it will not bend valves but still run just really crappy.
Good luck! |
I have checked my injectors...is there a way that I can check them or do I need a specialist to do that?
Alrite ill go ahead and recheck the timing belt. Thank you all for these advise |
How many wires are on the o2 sensor you replaced? What brand is the replacement?
Does the problem go away with the o2 sensor unplugged? You will get a check engine light for it, but do the drive-ability issues go away when this is done? |
I would Google it I'm not sure how accurate it is but you can put a plastic handled screw driver metal side right in front each injector and put your ear on the plastic side and hear if it is working but other than that the only way I know is to take them out they might look gummed up but I'm sure there is another way. Good luck

O2 sensor has 2 wires and i believe its Bosch.
i did that before purchasing the o2 sensor and it did go away so i went out and bought this one and the problem continued. ok i will look up info on how to check the injectors and once again thanks for bringing this up. |
You're welcome anything to help a fellow Honda owner. I'm did a small bit of research on it and sounds like pulling them and looking for gunk or build up is the best way.
I* not I'm lol |

The o2 sensor in the VX should be a 5 wire OEM wideband sensor. This is what controls the lean burn functions which saves you gas. Bosch is probably crap. 2 wires is definitely wrong. For a brand new Honda 5 wire o2 sensor, expect to pay around $300. Welcome to the world of 45+mpgs. Normal o2 sensors for that year of Civic would be 4 wire. I have no idea where you got a 2 wire from. IF the problem was fuel or EGR or anything else, the problem would persist, or even get worse when there is a CEL on for the o2 sensor being unpligged, the problem would not resolve itself. Let me know if you have any other questions. |
