Car is Over Heating
 

I have a 2003 Honda Civic Ex and my car keeps on Over heating. I changed the thermostat, the water pump, the radiator, and the cooling fan switch. But it still keeps on over heating. At first it would only over heat right after i got off a highway. But today it started over heating in the city. I've taken it to 2 different shops and neither of them now wth is the problem. Please help...:(

Are you going through coolant? Air in the system? Turn the heat on full when the car is at idle, see if it works.

Sounds like a head gasket though, common in 7th gens.

A simple and reasonably safe test is to get the cooling system completely full, then with the engine COLD take off the radiator cap, start the engine and rev it. If bubbles come out of the radiator steadily, there's a very good chance of a blown head gasket. Severe cases will have coolant splashing out, that was the reason for the suggestion to cover the radiator with a funnel. If you do this COLD, there is little risk of injury.

A variation is to leave the cap on, engine cold, squeeze the upper radiator hose. There should not be pressure inside. If there is, open the cap to relieve it and then replace cap. Now start the engine cold and rev it while feeling the hose. Pressure should NOT build up until after the engine has heated up considerably. If you feel pressure immediately it is probably a head gasket leak.

Yea, my friend told me it might be a blown head gasket, but i am going to try your suggestions before wasting anymore money. Thanks alot

just had my 05, ex head gasket done last week....it took the auto shop 3 days and finally a leak down test well the engine was cold revealed a leak in the no1 cylinder....

also you said you did the water pump...right? when was the last time the timing belt was changed you might wanta consider replacing that as well....

Make sure that your driver is expert enough to handle such situations. You should check your coolant and oil level before starting it. It is also important to make your habit of checking your car temp and oil pressure gauge while your are riding your car. Following these tips may help you to a certain extent.

I figured out what it was. I had switched my cooling fan switch before i detected my water pump wasn't working. so i guess from my car over heating it blew out the new cooling fan switch. And i do check all my fluids before i start my car and i do check my gauges while im driving. if i didn't how would i know my car was heating up? thank you

Ohh, and i changed my time belt as well while i was at it.
