Car Shakes..
Yeah so when im going about 25ish to 38 ish MPH my 93 auto civic starts shaking  but once i speed up to about 40 it stops and rides smooth again. also when i slow down under like 20 or something. anybody know wat could be causing this? :(
Thanks! Alex |
what shakes? your steering wheel? the whole car, the engine?
|
sounds to me that your transmission is shaking your car when your in 2nd gear.. but thats just my opinion, i know nothing but that would be my guess

it may be a tire or it can be a tie rod if its the front end shaking.
try to determine which side the shaking is coming from and put that tire on the back and then the back one on the front also inspect your tie rods when the tire is off. this is a bad tie rod, Attachment 15900 |
bet it's a tire. One of the belts broke. go have your tires balanced. Cheap and eliminates the tires.

most likely it's one of your tires like StonedCold said. i had the same problem either theres a bent rim or it might be more serious with a bad tie rod.

Or rotate the tires front to back and see if the shaking changes. It does it at certain speeds, no matter how hard you are pressing on the gas, right? To completely rule out the engine and transmission, shift into neutral when it is shaking.
Balancing will not help a tire that is no longer round due to a broken cord, etc. Such a tire must be replaced. |
dont **** around witgh a bad tie-rod... me and my mom was making a turn on her minivan and the tire went siideways and threw us into burgerkings little garden out front... they werent happy.. it coulda been worse tho. we diddnt have insurance either haha, so it coulda been alot worse

doesn't sound like a tire if the shaking goes away at different speeds other than going slow.
