catalyic converter question
 

what's up, i like to know if the catalyic converter is necessary, because i'm going to build a 2'' exhaust system. so should i put the catalyic converter or can i just build the exhaust without it??

It is not necessary for the vehicle to run. However, depending on your state's emissions, it may be necessary.

OK, but what do you advise should i put it or should i just leave it out? i have a 5Zigen cat back exhaust and an cold air intake system.

I see your car is right side drive so you may not be in the USA and you'd have to check local laws. It's illegal everywhere in the USA and I would imagine most of the "first world" to remove the converter from a street car. Commonly, people swap the 1996-2000 models from the somewhat performance-restricting DX type converter in the manifold to having the converter under the car like an EX. This is very simple, you just use EX parts instead of DX.

You can also gain some performance by swapping the intake manifold and throttle body from your vertical-flow DX to a horizontal-flow EX type. I think on an automatic it is plug and play since they both have the 3-wire IACV.

Yeah like mk said , I did the DX to EX swap and used the cat underneath , but it isn't necessary . If you go with that approach use flanges to either leave the cat on or off with a test pipe filling the spot .
