CEL is on

I just installed a dc header on my 07 si Sedan after a few days my engine light came on. How would I get rid of the CEL?

RE: CEL is on

try resetting the ECU

discconet the battery and let it drain

then reconnect so the computer can "learn" your new part.

I disconnected it and engine light went off. Will I have to do that with every new part I install, also will the light come back on later?
Thanks for the help.

RE: CEL is on

Depends on which parts you install. It also depends on what problem caused the engine light to begin with.

You probably should have read the error code before clearing it.

RE: CEL is on

If you reset it, & the CEL didn't come back on, there probably isn't a stored code.

The idea of resetting the ECU so it can re-learn the behavior with new parts is good. Most parts wouldn't set off the CEL, so if the CEL does come on, I'd want to know WHY before I clear it.

Ok now I know before I try doing anything when the light goes on.
