changing cable reel... no red cap

I just got my new/used cable reel for my EG in today and went to replace it... removed the side cover to disconnect the plug to the air bag... i remember reading something about useing the red cap to plug one of the wires.... well mines not there... what does it do and is it needed?

also, im doing this kinna from memory... could someone link a how to on swapping it... having a hard time finding it for some reason

I thought the cap was just there to make absolutely sure you didn't blow up the airbag. Just be careful with it and don't point it at your face when you unplug it.

Yeah, I'm doing every thing from the passenger seat... However I hit a snag already... What size is the torx bit that hold in the airbag? My t30 pops out and a t40 is too big.... I'm guessing t35, but I want to make sure before I order it because no store has that size here

found a t35 in a cheap ($3) pit set at big lots... turns out the screw is a t30 >.< went back and tried with the new t-30 bit and got one cracked loose... but the other striped out... suggestions on how to remove it?

Use a dremel or saw to cut a flat groove in it so you can use a flathead. Or, get a flathead and a hammer. Make sure the flathead is just a little bigger than the stripped out hole and smack the screwdriver into place. It might give you enough grip to pull the screw out.

i tred to hammer the t35 in as well as the t40 bit, but either the screw is too hard... or im afraid of braking something with pounding on it liek that... and i thought about the dremel, but using something liek that, that close to an explosive made me a bit nervous

word to that, its not high tech haha but you could epoxy/glue a piece of metal into the groove that is there and when it tries try turning that.

See if you can find a red shorting cap at a junkyard. I think most Hondas use the same one. Put it on then drill out the screw.
