Civic Ignition Problems
I have a 94 Civic DX with 169K on it. Anytime I turn it off and turn it back on within about five minutes, like at the gas station, when I try to turn it back on, the engine turns on once, and then dies quickly, and if I try it again, it just cranks really fast. Usually I have to wait about 10 minutes. I had a new alternator put in it about 10K miles ago, and a new transmission. Any ideas on what this might be? Thanks in advance.

May be carbon build-up in the cylinders causing pre-detonation. The build up makes these little pin heads on the cylinder walls and they glow red hot causing pre-detonation. When they cool, as in 5 or 10 minutes later, all is well. of course it could be as simple as a fuel pump wearing out, fouled plugs, timing, and lord knows what.
