Clicking noise when changing air vent control
Hey all, I've got an issue with my '02 Civic EX Sedan. It's similar to the issue in this FAQ in which there is a clicking noise related to the AC system. However, the sound I am hearing is loud clicking and it persists regardless if the AC fan is actually on or not. But it only starts when I change the control **** to floor or defrost vents. If I keep it on dash vents, it goes away. Along with this, I do not get any flow of air from my defrost vents when I turn the **** there. The flow problem has existed for a while. I took it to a shop a while back and he said that a bracket somewhere was bent, I guess preventing whatever moves to change the flow from moving. He bent it back, and it worked for a little while, but the problem returned. I just dealt with it over the summer because you don't really use defrost. But now it's winter and I need defrost, and the clicking noise is here. I am guessing the motors are fine since I hear them moving when changing the control ****, and that something is just blocking whatever moves to change the flow. So the question then I suppose is how to I get to it, to find out what's stopping it? I can't afford to pay someone to do it most likely, so I would like to fix it myself. Thanks for reading.
I have the same problem with exactly the same car. I wander what did you finally do to fix it.
I've figured that the clicking comes from the windsheld vents as these are suppose to be open in all three most colckwise **** positions, but not with the first two when the clicking doesn't happen. I will try to look to locate the bracket that can be bent to fix the problem but better guidance would be helpfull
Thanks for any responses in advance.

Hey there. This is weird and may be a coincidence, but I'll tell you, the problem went away after I cleaned my cabin filters. There was also a piece of pine straw stuck in the duct hanging down into the part under the cabin filter. Not sure if there is a motor in there or what. And like I said maybe it's just a coincidence but I have not had the clicking noise or any airflow problems after cleaning those filters. If you don't know how to get to it, it's easy. Just open the glove compartment, then pop the 2 clips that hold it in to the inside, I think, and the compartment will swing down. Now there is a black box behind it, and you can open the cover and there are 2 filters you can pull out. Mine were completely nasty and I have no idea how any air got through. I just beat them out really good on the pavement but ideally they should be replaced. They are pretty cheap at the car parts store. Hope this helps!
