Clicking noise in your Auto. gear shifter?
Hello all,
I know there was an old thread to this and the majority of the response was that "It's normal" but I just wanted to see if any new development came from this since 2003.
The problem is that I have an 03 Civic LX with about 89,000 miles on it. Been running fine until a couple a days ago when I started hearing and feeling a clicking sound coming from the gear shifter whenever the brakes are pressed. This only happens when the car is in "Park". If the car is in gear and the brakes are pressed it's fine (no noise).
I just can't see how after 89,000 miles that it would start happening and the Honda mechanic says it's normal when I've never heard or noticed it before.
Any response would be helpful.
Thanks

i think it might be the gear shift interlock my 07 does it when i'm in park and hit the brakes you can hear the shifter click my. 1998 escort wagon does it too
Yup, mine does that too, just a saftey feature so when the breaks are pushed you can move the shifter. Most automatics ive been in you can hear a little click when the breaks are pushed in park. Im suprized you have never heard the noise before, but its nothing I would worry about.
