Clunk- 2003 civic sedan
I know this is very vague but I need a starting point.
In first and second when I accelerate quickly, or just for a moment step on the gas pedal and then let up, There is a clunking noise, both when I step on it and when I let up. The same does not occure when depressing the clutch. I think with the sudden start or slow down using the pedal something is moving around and hiting something causing the clunk. But, is does not occure when breaking quickly. It does happen a lot when changing gears, I have a standard. It seem more associated with using the gas pedal and not the clutch. Any help would be appreciated. Dave |
Check the side mounts, one comes off the transmission and the other off the block. The bushing mounts to the underside of the frame rails.

Thanks much. If that is what it is, I do not think I need to have a mechanic do the work.
Would you agree? |
Depends.
Relative to other things, replacing those bushings are fairly straightforward as long as the captive nuts in your frame rail arent loose. |
