Clutch bleeding
 

Hello all,

When you change the clutch fluid on a civic is it a regular syatem or do you have to reverse bleed it? (meaning pump it up from the slave up to the resivor)

No it's conventional: open the bleeder on the slave, have someone press the pedal down, close the bleeder, bring pedal back up, and repeat.

I have never had an issue with bleeding it myself since I usually don't have a buddy around to do this. I just leave the bleeder open, fill the reservoir, pump 10 times, fill up reservoir again, and repeat the 10 pump process about 5 times, then refill one last time, then shut the bleeder valve.

I am sure MK's method is better, but I have never had an issue with doing my method by myself for the clutch fluid, or the brake fluid.

I recently had the same issue. Make sure to clean out the master cylinder reservoir before you put new fluid it. In my case, it was old fluid that had water in it, causing the line to rust from the inside.

If you are bleeding and bleeding and you still don't have a firm pedal and clutch disengagement after installing a new master cylinder, look at adjusting the yoke on the master cylinder push rod to give you more stroke on your pedal. In my case, the yoke was adjusted all the way to the short length from the factory. I needed it to be set all the way to the other end of the threads. I didn't learn that until I ran a full can of brake fluid thru the system trying to bleed it using three different methods. No one on the forums had mentioned that the new master cylinder could have been assembled so far off from what was required to work.
