Default Crank Shaft bolt???

I just went and spent $120 on a decent impact wrench and still cant loosen the crank shaft bolt to change the timing belt on my 2000 civic VTEC. Any suggestions? The impact wrench I bought has up to 600Ft lbs of reverse torque. Help

be careful I just had to tap out a bolt out of my crankshaft because I broke it off inside of it. I used a 4 foot pipe on the end of a breaker bar and that's how I broke it.

whenever i have to do it, i have to keep hammering on it for up to a minute or two. it takes a lot of pounding to get it to free up.

I don't think it is reverse threaded, but I ran the impact wrench forward just to see if I might jar it...didn't work. Back to square one. I'll try again next week end. Thanks for all the input.

Have you tried penetrating oil? I would gob it on there and let it sit over night, preferably someplace warm. How about a good old deadblow hammer whack to loosen the threads.

good suggestion, thanks. I have a good heat gun, I'll try it. Also, I'll try the dead blow hammer. I couldn't believe the impact wrench didn't get it. I have 134,000 m on it, and I know I'm on borrowed time. The timing belt hasn't been changed yet.

Heat gun won't get the bolt hot enough. You will need an acetelyne torch. I tried to heat an axle bolt with a propane torch once and it didn't do anything. Although i used an impact for like 5 sec and it came right off.
