is there a way to get away with putting a vtech head on a d15 or d16 and making more power and using the valve cover that doesnt say vtech?

You need a different valve cover because the spark plug holes are in a different place on the VTEC head. Not all of the VTEC engines say VTEC on the valve cover though. Anyone who looks at it would know though from the location of the spark plugs and the presence of a VTEC solenoid.

If you're building a race car, you can get more power at high rpm from a non-VTEC by putting in a racing cam. Racing cams are lousy for daily driving though because the engine will barely idle. That is what the VTEC system does, makes it work like stock cam slow and racing cam fast.

what year is the car? Just grab a VTEC head from that generation and then grab a plain non-VTEC valve cover. All d16 valve covers are interchangeable. D15/D16 are not.

im just looking for some advise on those 2 engines. i havent decided which of the 2 engines i wanna run in the car its just an oval track car. its supposed to be stock nothin done to it but the other guys are runnin v6 berettas and i wanna keep up with them cause they arent stock either. they run chips and stuff in theres some how they sodder the race chip into their computer using wire and it adds between 20 and 30 horse. so they are runnin around 230 or 250 depending on the model of the beretta.


doesnt the d15 come with between 98 and 110 horse depending on if its throttlebody injected or electronic fuel injected?
