D.I.Y. Question. D17A1 Timing Belt?

Has anyone found a good D.I.Y. (read good pictures)for a timing belt change on the 2001-2005 Civics? TheSOHC D17A1 1.7L Motors? I have done a couple T-Belt changes on my 1998 civic, And on a 1993 Acccord I had many years back. I assume not too much has changed..... Will the 50 MM Pulley holdertool still work on this motor?

Main thing is to be careful not to damage that CKP sensor or get its wiring caught in the other belts, other than that the procedure is the same as on older models.

If you have an impact wrench to remove the pulley bolt you shouldn't need the holder tool.

Not to hyjack the thread... but I have an 04 LX with just under 70000 miles. When do you guys say I should do a water pump/timing belt on my engine? Is there anything else that should be replaced whileI am in there?

I have a new job at a shop where I can do any work to my own car I want during non business hours, so I may take advantage of the lift and such!

Thanks!

I have an 01 EX so its pretty much the same model...in the owners guideit says every 110,000miles or 84months...some people change it before then since its a vital part...(if you live in a very hot or very cold climate (110F to -20F) you should change it at 60,000miles.)

Youre right, when its out you should also change the waterpump, besides that I dont know what else, maybe others can comment...

I live in northern IL, where I live it has been from -4 to maybe mid 90s. Would you say it's due soon?

I am the second owner of the car and it was owned in the same area before so it has not gone far.

Also. I have a warranty up until about 115000 (I paid for extended coverage).

Is this engine interference, or no?

if it is, and the belt blows before 115000, and blows the engine, would that be covered? So long as it blows before the honda reccomended maintenance interval?
