well IMO if the motor is a y7 then id put on the y8 head.... just because the intake and electrical plugs are different on the z6 ive heard.

d16y8 has a very slightly more aggressive cam than the D16Z6. The only things really better in the D16Z6 than the D16Y8 are in the block, so it doesn't really matter in this situation.

D16Y8 would be easier due to wiring.

I would replace valve stem seals first though on either head. Also, adjust your valve lash before starting up the engine.

You're also gonna need new head studs.

speaking of head bolts, trust, do you know what ones I should use for swapping a z6 head on my b7 block. I've been trying to find the answer but I cant seems to get a straight one. I've heard all kinds of things. If you know anything it would be very helpful.

why? we're talking about the head here...
he has an OBD2 car with an OBD2 block (y7), and has the choice between an OBD1 head (z6) and an OBD2 head (y8) that are virtually identical, except that the OBD2 head's (y8) cam is slightly better. I think it's obvious that the D16Y8 head is better in this situation.
