Exclamation D16y7 with a y8 Intake manifold Idiling issues

Had to put a rebuilt y7 into my wifes car (97 Lx Manual tranny) due to the original being completly screwed. installation went well and I thought I might as well put in a y8IM. Everything connected well but the cars idle is off. it keeps reving between 1000 to 2000. much like when the TPS is out of whack. checked to make sure i didnt accidentally swap the TPS and MAPP connectors and I didnt. I had heard that when getting an auto IM you would have to drill into it for a sensor but dont remember what for. I believe the IM I got was from an auto because I have no ports in the rear bottom drivers side, here are some pics. Oh yeah I did replace the TPS and MAP already.

The sensor below was only used to to plug the holes. using the sensor on the throttle body

There are 2 kinds of IACVs used (it's not a sensor, it's a valve)- the one on the back is a "2 wire" one and the one on the bottom of the throttle body is a "3 wire" one. The IACV controls idle speed by controlling the air going into the engine at idle.

So what you've done here is mate a Y7 3-wire DX type TB to an EX type manifold with its 2 wire IACV sitting unused. I don't know if that will work. Seems like it could, but if the port holes don't line up you could have a large air leak, which would explain the high idle.

You need a different ECU to run a 2-wire IACV and have a full EX setup.

I used the Throttle body off the y7. all sensors and valves are 3 wire and match up. I didnt think i would have had to use the IACV thats in the back because i am using the one off the y7 TB. the idle dosent stay at 2000 or 3000 it raises and drops and raises again. car drives fine, i did notice a little hiss when you hit about 4000 rpms like a vacum is disconnected but have been unable to locate it, I'll try and post a video in a bit.

Take the SRI pipe off and run the engine observe which of the side ports in the throttle body before the throttle plate are sucking air. You should be able to stall the engine by blocking all of them with your fingers. If the engine keeps going it is getting air somewhere else, from a vacuum leak.

I did notice that when i had the intake tube and filter off, if i plug the port where the IACV is on the throttle body with my finger, it idled just fine.

I have a y7 with y8 IM and I just kept my y7 throttle body and iacv, the other iacv just sits there unplugged and i am having no idle problems whatsoever. There is a spot for a very small hose on the drivers side back of the manifold (goes to vtec maybe?) that I blocked off by putting a short hose on it and then stuck a screw in the other end of the hose. If yours is still open that may be giving u idle problems.

the outlet your talking about goes to the cruise control. thought i would try plugging anyway and nope no difference. Do you have the IACV that goes bolted in to the manifold, kinda in the same area as the outlet? if so you have a y8 manual Intake, i believe that one I have is from a automatic.

Did the y8 IM happen to come from a 99-00 Civic?

Don't know, some1 had taken the engine out of the car at my local junkyard and hid it in an astro van, lol. But I'm pretty sure the was no other inlets or outlets on the actual ports.
