D16Y8 Block. Help me. Please.
 

i have a 93 with a y8 swap. first, is there any way to tell what year the motor is? and also when i had it diagnosed i spud a rod bearing off of piston 3 and mangled the journal. so if i buy a brand new crankshaft from autozone for my car can i use the same bearing i just bought for the motor? i purchased the standard size bearings and i put them all on and my number 3 piston is still rocking back and forth causing a knock. so can i just buy a new crankshaft and put the standard sized on it? i dont think i need to measure anything if everything is stock and to spec.

If you run a carfax on the block's VIN (on the back of the block), you can find out what car it came out of. Otherwise, it's from a 96-00 Civic EX so anything from that range is the same.

If you didn't get the crank polished before you put bearings on it, you probably shouldn't use the same set of bearings. And it's probably cheaper to take the crank out of that motor and have it measured and fixed. That way you know which bearings to get.

I HIGHLY recommend going to hondatech.info: Honda service manuals and downloading the 96-00 Civic service manual. It will tell you all the specs for that engine block, including how to know which bearings to get. (It's not as simple as just grabbing the standard ones.)
