D4 does not light up in dashboard, but all other gear indicators do
1 Attachment(s)
Dear fellow forum members,
I've just noticed that my dashboard's D4 (Drive 4), which is below N (Neutral) and above D3, does not light up anymore, whether or not I turn on the headlights. All the other gears light up in the dashboard. So now, when I'm driving (which is usually in D4), I don't see any gear lit up in the dashboard. It looks like the car is turned off. What's wrong? And how can I fix things? |
My first guess would be the bulb has burnt out. So remove the cluster and check the bulbs.

mk378,
thanks for your reply. What is the cluster? And how do I remove it? |
Today, I drove the Civic again. D4 was lighting up briefly, and then it stopped lighting up again.

Instrument cluster-- the part of the dashboard with the gauges and lights.
If it comes and goes, see if it can be made to go on/off by hitting the dash near the cluster, or by moving the shifter handle slightly. There is a switch at the base of the shifter handle that controls the lights. |
