Distortion through AUX in if using car charger
 

I often plug my android phone to AUX in in honda civic 2010 LX to play mp3s, internet audio, etc.

However, if I also have it plugged into car charger for power, a lot of static/distortion comes through AUX as well.

Is there some filter or something that you can get to eliminate this?

Weird, definitly some interference going on.

Does it make any difference where the phone is when it's plugged in? Like if it's as far away as possible or really close?

That problem is called a ground loop. You can use an isolation transformer to prevent it.

A quick search of Amazon turns up this. Note that I have no opinion one way or another on that particular unit but it appears to be something that would work.

Just to note that those isolators usually work but just canceling out the signal range that the noise is in. So if youre an audiophile you will be loosing certain high pitched sounds in music. Its not a big deal at all and not all that noticeable.
