Default dont know what the problem is

ok myis supossed to be idleling at 1000 rpm right when its not moving but my idles at about 1500 or 2000 when its just standing still sometimes it will drop back to 1000 what does that mean and is it bad?

First off, tell us what you have for a civic. ie: year andengine.

Your problem might be a dirty IdleAir Control Valve (IAC). Don't buy a new one, justremove your old oneand give it a good cleaing with carb cleaner. You can search the threads here for IAC and you'll find better descriptions for removal.

spark plugs and wires have alot to do with idling problems

also any throttle body/intake manifold/timing mods can mess it up

check your throttle cable there's 2 little nuts holding on to the intake manifold. move them around maybe theyre too tight.

Idles are a very touchy thing. Check all of those things. You may also have a vacuum leak.

CEL on ???
i would also say IACV.
but if an older model - replace all the small vacuum hoses

its a 1996 civichatch jdmd15b non vtec where is the (IAC) the only thing i can think of is my short ram when i bought the car it came with one but its the wrong one for the car and they put it on wrong i went to go buy one and im getting it tomorrow you think that could ad to the problem
