oh, that can wreak havoc on ball joint covers though.
True...so you have to be careful....I also use it to pop the shaft out of the transmission....makes it a real cake-walk.

I have a breaker bar, and that damn bolt just would not come out. I used the breaker bar and i tried to heat it with a propane torch. Both times the bold wouldn't budge. Got an impact, came off in about 30sec.

If you just put the breaker bar on there and stand on it, maybe bounce gently, it'll come off.

i almost broke my nose trying to get that nut off once. i was pushing down on the bar with all my weight, and it slipped off the nut, and my face slammed into the fender.[:@] it hurt so bad. which reminds me, never work on your car alone. make sure someone is around in case something happens. some of yu will remember my story about my misadventures with a cheap jack[] good thing my wife was standing there and my friend was just inside the house to help me lift the car off of my hand.[&:]

I see this is a little old, but better to continue a post then start a new one. I have everything apart, but can't seem to get the axle shaft out. I tried using a screw driver to pry it out like it suggests, but it wont budge. Should I try something bigger? Will I damage anything? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I also have used a pry bar (the flatter side) and it works great. did both the drivers and passengers that way. my flat head screwdriver was ready to break. Of course, I didn't try wiggling like 94civichatchback suggested though.
