Default Dumb Question? VTEC Valve Cover

So, this may be a dumb question but here goes. I have a D16Z6 VTEC engine in my civic. The 'problem' is that the valve cover doesn't have "VTEC" on it. Do non-VTEC and VTEC valve cover exist or are they all just the same thing but only some say VTEC?? I have a picture of the current valve cover on my D16Z6.

So, do I need a "VTEC" valve cover to gain the VTEC power?!

Thank you!!!
Dan

uuggghh, you're kidding right? V/Cs are interchangable throughout a lot of diffierent hondas. Someone probably either sold, or kept the original z6 one cause they're the ****

I just had to ask because a kid I know was argueing with me and trying to convince me that because it didn't say "VTEC" that it would work right. I just had to prove him wrong on a creditable site. Thanks man!

yeah, thats funny.

Vtec is in the engine, not on the valve cover. You could have a sleeper vtec look like my crappy engine and never know it. Sometimes I think I do have a Vtec because of my engine's performance. It follows the description of the Vtec system almost perfectly, but according to everything i read it's not one.

If your friends are like mine they don't believe anything, no use arguing, tell them to get a honda or stfu :-)

Oh, I am not debating whether or not I have a VTEC (D16Z6). I know I do. And I'm not that dumb to not know what the solenoid looks like. If that message was directed towards the previous postee, okay, but, if me me, hey, I know some things.

whoa whoa whoa.

As stated before this was simply to prove to a douche of a friend that he's a douche. Check out my cardomain site if you don't believe me. I do everything to my car myself (except pearl paint). Look at the posting that you directed me to. I answered the question before you did. I made it easier for him to determine his engine type by simply looking at a badge. If he didn't know if his car was a VTEC or not, he certainly won't know what the heck a solenoid is, or where it's found. Just because I have decided to start posting on CHF doesn't mean I'm new to the game. P.S. I honestly hope your car gets more than 127 horse. It's a 1999! I have a 93 and stock almost has as much power. P.P.S. I do like the Megan racing exhaust, if I had the money I would have gone that route. Just two weekends ago I installed a Tsudo catback. It fit perfectly, surprisingly enough. Later

IF you want to talk hp numbers, we can talk about how my car was boosted for the last 5 months

When you ask questions like "So, do I need a "VTEC" valve cover to gain the VTEC power?! " it makes you sound pretty noobish.

I've never even thought of boosting a stock motor. It's better to just drop for a new motor. I'm not quite sure if you have some sort of superiority complex, but I didn't know I had to write out all that was going on between a friend and me in order to prevent being unjustly ridiculed. Granted you haven't updated your cardomain site in just over a year, if you ask me, you look kind of like a noob. From the looks of it, that car was never turboed in its life. I'm super glad that you have posted so many things that you have achieved "administrator" status. If the rest of your posts are a condesending as the ones I have read then HCF better properly adjust your status the "dictator." I'm glad that I'm not new at this as your comments would more than likely deter a "noob" from learning and sharing their knowledge. So, all I ask of you is to be supportive of your fellow import enthusiasts especially the "noobs." Keep on modifing the civic, it's looking nice!
