i have a 98 ex with a d16y5 and the y8 computer so my v-tec does not kick in until 5800 rpms. if i put the correct ecu in the v-tec should kick in sooner, but i dont know which car i need to get the computer from, can anyone tell me.

HERE is some random info on the ECU, did you swap the y5 into there? Are you sure it's y5 and not y8? The d16y5 is VTEC-E btw, not just VTEC.

yeah i imagine thats why it says no. Every HX has VTEC-E, so it's not like theres a different model with no VTEC at all, i say just get a P2N ECU and you should be okay (get the right kinda tranny though).

yes it matters if you get an automatic ECU for a manual car and vise versa (it doesn't work).
